I have a
new review up on
erastes's
Speak Its Name gay historical fiction blog.
This one's about Richard Amory's classic, much discussed, much ripped-off, and much parodied
Song of the Loon. Read that review
here.
Loon was made into a soft-core art-house movie (unendorsed by the author) in 1970. It's apparently impossible to get but here's a
link to a clip. Don't let it dissuade you from reading the book; the two are only tenuously related.
Be warned, it's got
two cocks and four balls men's dangly bits.
My other reviews so far are for
Chris Hunt's Street Lavender and
Mel Keegan's Dangerous Moonlight.
I'm loving the way reviewing forces me to clarify what I like and don't like, what works and doesn't, when authors tackle gay themes in historical settings.
So, what's your favorite gay historical?
What gay historical do you wish someone would write?
